BIOGRAPHY Working out of my Southern Vermont studio, As far back as I can remember I've always made jewelry, from paperclip necklaces at my father's desk to fishing-lure bracelets on family vacations. It wasn't until college, however, and my first class in silversmithing, which I began to consider jewelry making as a profession. I now hold a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design and completed my course of study in metals and jewelry in 1996. In addition I have attended many courses in silversmithing at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine. Today I am always being inspired by new things that I encounter in my day to day life. Patterns and textures taken from nature often share a part in my work, combined with the sleek, modern forms of the pure materials themselves. Jewelry for me becomes a special place where the seemingly contradictory characteristics of nature and man-made materials unite to reveal the individual beauty of each stone, each metal. |
